Mardi Gras 2022 was a day to be free and have fun. But I ran into a New Orleans native that had a lot to say about my choice of costume. This situation opened the door to being aware of problems that have been taking place in New Orleans since the time of slavery. What I captured on camera was unexpected and happened at the last minute but I feel that it is something bigger than Mardi Gras.

Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to do a photo/video shoot with Voodoo Chief Divine Prince Tyemmecca. For this specific video I filmed myself in City Park of New Orleans and his video was filmed in the Congo Square of the Louis Armstrong Park. I was really excited about how well the videos blended together.

     My winter self portraits revolved around the theme of a diamond. Diamonds are known for having many sides along with being created under extreme pressure. The theme relates to the human personality and how I believe that each individual has different sides to their single personality. For many years I’ve done different self portraits involving many different themes, costumes, makeup, colors, and visual effects. What most people don’t realize is that there is an important meaning behind everything that goes into the photo shoot. What I will also say is that my strongest work comes through during the most challenging times of my life.     Art, photography, and the ability to create, has always been my outlet. It started off in the Fall of 2013 as a full day photo shoot which included me as Odyssey, Toni Fields as Lonewolf, and Jeff Cumming as the photographer. The photo shoot took place in Atlanta, Ga and it was a cold and sunny day but that's when the acting kicked in because along with using our imagination, we had to pretend it was a warm day outside. So yes, I can admit that when it comes to this project I'm tough on myself and the people that I work with.  I would say it is definitely worth it when the final photos are seen. Jeffery J. “There are people out there who can’t even handle looking at themselves in the mirror. There is no way they can handle what I just did.” -Jeffery Odyssey- Odyssey casts a spell of separation. In the Scelto Universe there is Odyssey, member of Team Scelto, who decided to make a personal change. Odyssey takes a trip to New Orleans to visit a witch that may be able to help him with his personality problem. Odyssey wants to hold on to his humanity, but he also knows that whenever he experiences heartbreak and extreme anger his dark side will take over.  When he meets up with a witch in New Orleans and explains to her what his dilemma is, she gives him a duality potion which would help in locking away his dark side but she also warns him of the price that comes with it.  Odyssey’s only concern at the time was getting rid of his dark side and was prepared to deal with whatever problems came afterwards.  Taking the potion, Odyssey began to have more an...
